The data in BSD SpecLink-E consists of three categories of documents:

Organization of the Content

All the sections and documents in SpecLink-E are organized according to CSI/CSC's Masterformat™ (2004/2010+ editions and up), SectionFormat™ (2008 edition), and PageFormat™ (2008 edition). The document tree in SpecLink-E includes virtually all the MasterFormat numbers and titles down to Level 3, which results in some empty folders in areas where SpecLink does not provide section content. BSD is constantly adding new sections, so many of these folders will eventually include BSD content. The folders also provide the proper location for any sections our users may wish to create or import.

The Design Criteria sections are located between Division 00 and Division 01, use an adaptation of UniFormat for section scope and overall organization, and use an adaptation of SectionFormat for internal organization.

Catalogs

The database is further divided into catalogs, by design discipline and scope. When you subscribe to BSD SpecLink-E you purchase access only to those catalog(s) that meet your needs. A brief summary of the catalogs appears below. Also see the Catalog Listing for a list of the individual sections included in each catalog.

Design Criteria 127 sections total; 32 Design Criteria sections; all of Divisions 00 and 01.
Architectural 428 sections total; all of Divisions 00 through 14, plus selected sections in Divisions 22, 23, and 26 (mechanical and electrical) and all of Divisions 31, 32, and 33 (site work).
Structural Engineering 167 sections total; all of Divisions 00 and 01; selected sections in Divisions 02 through 06 and 13; all of Division 31 (earthwork).
Civil Engineering 193 sections total; all of Divisions 00, 01, 02, 31, 32, and 33; selected sections in other divisions.
Landscape Architecture 161 sections total; all of Divisions 00, 01, and 32; selected sections in other divisions.
Mechanical/Electrical 314 sections total; all of Divisions 00, 01, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28, and 33; selected sections in other divisions. Click here to see recent enhancements to this catalog.
Outline & Short Form The Outline and Short Form versions only of all sections in all disciplines. Suitable for early phase preliminary specs or construction documents for small or low-risk projects.
